I have examined the accompa="

mying Ordinance entitled "In ardi = "nance to prohibit the chopping

"defacing of British Dollars," and Jami of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary to the Governors

Instructions.

The

object of this Ordinance is to prohibit the defacing and shopping of British Dollars. Section 4 (1) of the Houghong (coinage / Order 1895 renders valid a lender of British Dol-

lars only where such coins have not

been dealt with in

any ind

manner.
